FSSI for windows is an assessment, not a norm-referenced test administered to persons in a standardized testing setting. The FSSI describes the individual's behavior, based upon observer ratings in natural environments. It focuses on the functional skills needed to live and work independently in the community. As such, it is similar to "contemporary assessment", as defined by Halpern, Lehmann, Irvin, and Heiry (1982). Contemporary assessment involves directly assessing the competency behaviors to be taught in instructional programs.
